Insilico Medicine (3696.HK), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company leveraging generative artificial intelligence to accelerate drug discovery, and MobiDrop, a single-cell multi-omics technology company specializing in the large-scale generation of high-quality, AI-ready life science data, today announced a strategic partnership. Bringing together complementary strengths at the forefront of single-cell technology and AI-driven drug discovery, the two companies will collaborate on the generation, integration, and application of high-quality, traceable, AI-ready single-cell multi-omics data. Multi-omics datasets generated at scale by MobiDrop will be systematically integrated into the data infrastructure supporting Insilico Medicine’s Pharma.AI platform, providing data for the training, validation, and continuous refinement of its core generative biology platform, PandaOmics, as well as its recently released multi-agent-driven Virtual Aging Cell (VAC) platform.

Generative AI is redefining the pace and economics of drug discovery. Early-stage drug discovery, which traditionally takes approximately 2.5 to 4 years, can now be accelerated to an average of 12 to 18 months through AI-driven approaches. At the same time, the industry is increasingly recognizing that as algorithms and computing resources become more widely accessible, high-quality, traceable experimental data derived from real biological systems is emerging as a critical bottleneck -- and a key source of competitive advantage -- in AI-driven drug discovery. Publicly available databases have been extensively mined for model training and are becoming increasingly saturated. To move AI models beyond prediction toward experimental validation, and from content generation toward truly closed-loop discovery, a continuous supply of novel, multimodal wet-lab data is essential.
Under the agreement, the two companies will establish a long-term, non-exclusive strategic collaboration spanning key applications including target validation, disease mechanism research, biomarker discovery, and indication selection. Insilico Medicine will identify real-world R&D needs from its internal pipeline to serve as use cases, while MobiDrop will leverage its proprietary single-cell technologies, automated experimental platforms, and intelligent data analysis capabilities to generate and deliver high-quality, AI-ready experimental datasets at scale. Data generated through joint projects will be fed back into Insilico Medicine’s platform for model evaluation and refinement, establishing a continuous feedback loop of data generation, model iteration, accelerated R&D, and novel data generation.
In August 2026, Insilico Medicine also released an interactive preview of its VAC platform, powered by a “Multi-Agent Swarms”. The platform introduces biological age as a core conditioning variable and enables coordinated reasoning across six biological scales, spanning molecules, cells, tissues, and organismal populations, to simulate dynamic biological systems across healthy and disease states. As part of the strategic collaboration, the two companies will jointly develop training and benchmarking datasets for same-cell multimodal models, providing the VAC platform with real-world, traceable wet-lab reference data. This collaboration aims to advance AI-powered virtual cells from “understanding biology” toward “intervening in cell fate,” enabling a scalable closed-loop framework that integrates in silico modeling with wet-lab experimentation at single-cell resolution.
